EVERY MUST-SEE MOMENT FROM DIOR’S RESORT 2020 SHOW

Francesca Wallace, Marie Claire, May 6, 2019

Christian Dior’s resort show is always one for the history books. From the iconic walls of Oxfordshire in England to the architectural wow of Palais Bulles in France, the heritage French brand has never been one to shy away from performance, travel and the power of a great show setting. For their resort 2020 show, it was all about Africa. Heading to the continent for the first time and landing on Marrakesh, Maria Grazia Chiuri enlisted the help of local artisans to collaborate on the collection, with the resulting looks a melting pot of French/African culture.

Reappropriating the famous New Look aesthetic Dior is famous for, Grazia Chiuri collaborated with artists like Grace Wales Bonner and Mickalene Thomas to switch up the silhouette, resulting in a chic mesh of fabrics and fashion flavour — well received by the international audience flown in for the occasion. A generous mix of Dior’s signature pieces (including the reworked saddle bag and Instagram’s favourite monogrammed tote) and Grazia Chiuri’s flair for crafting new must-haves made the show a winner. Below, our favourite looks of the night.
