In celebration of CulturalDC’s 20th Anniversary Season, Devan Shimoyama’s Mighty Mighty forms the centerpiece of The Barbershop Project, “a multidisciplinary arts activation inspired by the performance of styling, art of hair and shop culture.” The immersive installation blends Shimoyama’s exquisite paintings with a fully-functional barbershop in a mobile art gallery. Mighty Mighty is a collaboration between Shimoyama, barber Kelly Gorsuch and furniture-maker Caleb Woodard. Attendees to the exhibition are invited not only to experience the art, but also to enjoy a free haircut! (Visit culturaldc.org to plan your visit.)
