The sprawling exhibition features the most exhaustive selection of historic AFRICOBRA works ever exhibited in an American museum. Curator Jeffreen hayes also took tremendous care to examine the entire careers of these influential artists. Especially remarkable were the expansive and diverse oeuvres of Gerald Williams, Jae Jarrell, and Wadsworth Jarrell, showing the process by which these artists have continually evolved their aesthetic positions while remaining dedicated to AFRICOBRA‘s core principle of celebrating positive images of contemporary black people.

Press for AFRICOBRA: Messages to the People has been outstanding, with a major article appearing in Art Basel Miami Beach Magazine, as well as a glowing review on ARTNET News, and an enlightening interview with MOCA North Miami director Chana Budgazad Sheldon on Forbes.com.
